Training programs in the cleaning service industry in English

This training is designed specifically for you who work in the cleaning or domestic service industry and want to develop your own skills. Careeria offers you free training in the cleaning and domestic service industry alongside work as an apprenticeship in English.
During the training, you will develop your own skills in areas such as maintenance cleaning, basic cleaning and customer service. With the optional units of the degree, you can tailor your expertise according to your job tasks.
The training is intended for those working in the cleaning or domestic services sector. The basic qualification is the first degree in the field, while the Further Vocational Qualification is for those who have been in the field for several years. Applicants for the Further Vocational Qualification also undergo a skills assessment during the application process to ensure they have mastered the basics of the cleaning industry. Starting from January 2025, you can study to become a Site Facilities Operative, Institutional Cleaner or Housekeeper also in English.
You can complete en entire degree or partial qualification in English.
The training starts on January 28, 2025. The location for the classes is Careeria’s Herttoniemi campus. Those living outside the Helsinki metropolitan area can partially participate in the classes remotely via Teams.
The training is conducted alongside work. It includes in-person teaching in classroom, remote learning and on-the- job training at the student’s workplace. Classes are generally held every other Tuesday from 3 pm to 7 pm. Students will need a computer for the duration of their studies.
The duration of the training depends on the degree and the student’s motivation, as well as whether they are completing the entire degree or partial qualification. Proficiency in English and Finnish also affects the qualification to be completed.
Before the studies begin, a personal competence development plan (PCDP) will be created for the student.
Teaching, guidance and assessment take place in English. During the training the student’s Finnish language skill is also promoted, but there is no actual teaching of the Finnish language.

First, discuss about the training with your supervisor. Your employer must also commit to studies and assign you a workplace mentor who is proficient in English and knows the cleaning industry. Once you have received permission from your supervisor, submit your application through the link below. The application must also include your employer’s details.
You must have at least 25 working hours per week in order to qualify for an apprenticeship. All applicants will undergo English and Finnish language tests during the application phase. An English proficiency level of B1.1 is required to complete the entire qualification. For partial qualifications of the basic degree, an A2.1 language level is sufficient. Some knowledge of Finnish is also necessary for the basic qualification.
